Did you know our library stocks board games? These have been developed for healthcare staff. They can be borrowed to play in your departments, or in the Library or Post Graduate Centre (subject to room availability).

Communication Game

This game helps frontline health & social care staff improve their knowledge and skills around communication, allowing them to support people with diverse communication support needs. The game is suitable for anyone working in health & social care with responsibility for interacting with service users, their carers and families.
It’s a competitive team game for 2-12 players, and can be used by single or multi-disciplinary teams. The facilitator does not have to be an expert in communication support needs as the game is self-supporting and needs very little intervention.

Dr. Jargon by Focus Games aims to help improve the communication of doctors to their patients in a playful way. The objective of the game is to remove jargon when explaining conditions, diseases, treatments.

An introduction to child and adult safeguarding. An engaging board game that provides a foundation level introduction to the safeguarding of adults and children.

The game provides a broad overview of safeguarding and explores a range of safeguarding issues relevant to children and adults. It is designed for anyone who has contact with children or adults who might be at risk and is a great ‘refresher’ for people with specific safeguarding responsibilities.

The Safeguarding Game helps players to identify the signs of harm or abuse, and gives them the confidence to escalate their concerns. It offers practical advice that helps players understand what to do if they are concerned that an adult or child is being abused or is at risk.

Sepsis

Raise awareness of sepsis and improve recognition and management of sepsis.

The box contains everything you need to run a successful training session. Each game contains a pack of scenario cards designed to stimulate discussions that raise awareness and improve care delivery skills. The scenarios and questions vary in complexity which allows you to structure games that meet the needs of each group.

The game is designed for between 2-12 players divided into two competing teams. It takes around 45 minutes to play and can be used in any care setting. The rules are very simple and the facilitator doesn’t need sepsis expertise as the game is self-regulating.

The game encourages structured discussions enabling teams to explore what makes high performing teams tick, and the practical steps they can take to work together more effectively. Teams That Care helps existing teams improve their processes and culture, and new teams will find it a useful and enjoyable way to explore collaborative working to provide effective person-centred care. The game is suitable for all health & social care staff in any setting. It provides a platform for open discussions in relation to players’ own working teams, helping them become a high-performing, successful team.
