Our Critical Care team took part in the trial : The Covid OR study was an observational study and the aim was increase our knowledge of recovery from critical illness associated with Covid-19. The study allowed doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists to see how patients’ physical and mental health changes after discharge and provide any pointers that might help optimise their recovery. Patients had all the usual assessments that they would normally receive in hospital but were also invited to see the physiotherapist 3 months and a year after discharge. Patients were offered a fit bit watch to help track their progress and recovery after discharge from hospital, this also helped to encourage an increase in physical activity. The patients were asked a range of questions during the follow up appointments.
